Direction by Indigo — Pure Creativity
Direction by Indigo, held on August 3 & 4, 2010, took place in the heart of Chelsea at Metropolitan Pavilion. One Hundred of the world’s most creative textile design studios, services and forecasters introduced their new Fall/Winter 11/12 collections and products. The offer spanned a variety of markets from womenswear, menswear and childrenswear to paper goods and novelty. Attendee visits to the 2-day event totaled 1594.
Direction by Indigo is always pleased to showcase the unlimited creativity of its exhibitors. According to Gilles Lasbordes, the show’s director, "creativity will drive the industry; we are delighted to feature the world’s best textile design studios and forecasters at Direction by Indigo.” Offering a well-rounded show immersed in trends is key to attendees and synonymous with the Indigo brand, part of Première Vision events worldwide. For Fall/Winter 11/12, Indigo prints predictions were on display and a comprehensive package filled with cutting-edge trends was complimentary to attendees; the Première Vision color forecast was highlighted in a color wall and the color card was available for purchase. This information was available to attendees prior to the official release at Première Vision Pluriel Paris next month. Exhibitor’s interpretations of the trends were showcased in large-scale installations and video format.
The desire for new and fresh resulted in a well-attended Surface Seminar Series. In 2 full days of presentations renowned fashion industry experts shared their points of view on the mindset of the consumer and what will ultimately drive sales — creativity. Leading forecasters at the show also participated in the Trend Edition, a supplement to the show guide packed with important color, fabric, silhouette and lifestyle insight for Fall/Winter 11/12 and beyond keeping visitors ahead of the curve. Exhibitor Eileen Gleeson of Design Union was excited about the “enthusiasm of the buyers who appreciate the fact that the studios at Direction by Indigo push the boundaries of design.” It’s the interesting and diverse customer base that keeps exhibitors coming back each season to discover new clients. Lista Sagnelli of Garreau Designs was pleased with the senior level quality of buyers and notes, “despite the economy, customers are forging ahead and buying.” Kristen McMurtrie of Colette and Blue says, "the show had great energy…our best show to date…we were able to see childrenswear and womenswear customers all in one place." Amy Voloshin, owner of Printfresh, reports, “the August show brought many new customers to our booth” and states, "embellishments were a huge success, a sign of good things to come." The future is looking up! On January 11 & 12, 2011 Direction by Indigo joins under one roof with Première Vision Preview New York for the only ONE-STOP SHOP in New York for forecasting, textiles, textile design and more at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 – 135 West 18th Street, New York.
